Our Flying Field

SkyStreakers Field

262 Bald Hill Rd
New Gloucester, ME 04260

The SkyStreakers field is located in New Gloucester, Maine. The facility is set in a wooded area and includes a 300 ft paved runway and a 650 ft grass runway. Flying Model Airplanes is the major activity at the field. Other sanctioned AMA activities are also allowed such as the annual IMAC event. The Club is affiliated with the AMA and all members who fly are required to belong to that organization. The public is welcome and free parking is provided. There is also outhouse facilities but no running water. Come visit.

From route 100 Northbound in New Gloucester, take a left at the blinking lights onto Bald Hill Road. Go down the hill and stay right at the fork in the road and go past the cemetery. When you go under the overpass of the Maine Turnpike there will be two dirt roads on the left. The second one will have a blue sign "Model Airdrome". That's it. The gate is kept closed (except for big events) so close it behind you when you go in. If the gate is locked, sorry, no one is there. You'll have to come back some other time.

Flying hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 9 to dark.
Tuesday and Thursday (9 to 5) the Field is closed after 5 p.m.

Every Wednesday night  from 5 p.m. 'til dark is Trainer night. Club members in training are encouraged to show up with their trainer-type planes and get instruction from the Volunteer Instructors.  It is recommended that you purchase a "buddy box" set up for your type of radio equipment.  The club has boxes available but it's better to have your own all set up for your plane.  Everyone gets to fly more that way.
